World Habitat Day is marked on the first Monday of October each year and is recognized by the United Nations to reflect on the state of towns and cities, and on the basic right of all to adequate shelter.
York Habitat for Humanity invites you to participate in our World Habitat Day Build Day event on Monday, October 6th, from 8 am to 2 pm.
You will begin your day volunteering your time framing the walls of the final phase of the Chestnut Street Revitalization Project, where we are rebuilding 14 of the 16 homes that burned down in the City of York on Chestnut Street in 2009. When completed, these four homes will bring our affiliate’s total to 150 homes built since our founding in 1985.
Lunch will be provided. During the lunch hour, representatives from each organization mentioned above will share what they're doing to help drive growth and recovery as it pertains to housing.
