We need your support for Give Local York!
This year, on May 1st & 2nd, York Habitat for Humanity has a fundraising goal of $25,000 for The Chestnut Street Revitalization Project.
The Chestnut Street Revitalization Project is redeveloping a block devastated by fire in 2009, which destroyed 16 homes and left 26 families homeless. York Habitat acquired the land by partnering with the City of York and the Redevelopment Authority. Phases 1 and 2 were completed in 2020-2023, creating 10 affordable homeownership units for low-income families. All 10 units are currently owner-occupied, providing 40 individuals with safe, decent, and affordable housing, including 28 children.
Phase 3 involves the construction of four additional townhomes. Construction is all-encompassing, from excavation and concrete to framing and roofing. Each 1,200 square foot home will have three bedrooms and 1 ½ baths. Construction is anticipated to begin in July of 2025, with the project completed and the homes sold and occupied by the end of 2026.
Please consider volunteering with us at York Habitat for Humanity on May 5th to help us achieve our goal of raising $25,000.00.
